Morning Routine - Child Independence

As a mum of three, who is currently SLEEP DEPRIVED! (thanks to a cluster feeding 4 and a half month old). The thought of getting all three kids out the door in the morning seems like an impossible feet! HOWEVER, here on Sequential Parenting, there isn't a problem too big for us to solve.

No matter if your child can read or not, they can have visual cue cards to help assist them in some morning task that will build independence and help lighten your load. Amira starts school this week and she will have 7 jobs to do before leaving home: 1. Eat breakfast 2. Go to the toilet 3. Brush her teeth 4. Make her bed 5. Get dressed 6. Pack her lunch (we will have things cut up in containers ready to go & will check before we leave home) 7. Pack her school bag.

We have been doing some practice runs in this last week leading up to School so that she develops muscle memory. This way, when we need for things to go smoothly on Wednesday she is already confident and happy to do her tasks.

The display is interactive so that when she finishes a job she will flip her card over to receive instant praise and it is also linked to her pocket money chores.

Feel free to download the PDF below for a generic morning routine for your school age child. There is a donation tab at the top of our website if you would like to donate for the resource or if you want to make a personalised morning routine, purchases can be made.

Happy sequencing!!
